Data protection is vital to our core business and the continued success of customer growth.  At a very basic level, it is important to point out how we protect customers’ data. There are many different approaches to protecting data in the cloud, but some of the most vital are backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, contingency planning.

Backup

  • Backups are the most straight forward process in most situations.  This is a copy of data from the production copy.  A backup copy is used to recover data needed to restart the application properly, if needed.

Disaster Recovery

  • Disaster Recovery (DR) is a recovery of the entire relevant IT infrastructure at specified, secondary site after the primary site has become unavailable for a certain period.

Business Continuity

  • Business continuity (BC) is involving both disaster recovery and operational recovery (OR). Operational recovery is recovery of a specific asset at a specific site, such as a server, application or disk failure.

Contingency Planning

  • Developing a plan, and running exercises according to this plan, are key to ensuring the team responds quickly and efficiently in any of these events.  Along with keep this data constantly available, there are also other measures that must be taken to ensure the integrity of our customer data.  These can include event logging, change management processes, and access control.
