How does eMaintenance help the environment?

By using eMaintenance instead of hosting Maximo software on your own server, your company is reducing the consumption of energy and reducing the production of heat which is not only dangerous to the ozone, but to your computers as well.

How does Projetech as a company help the environment?

We at Projetech are making ourselves more aware of ways to be environmentally conscious.
- A few years ago we began an office recycling initiative for our bottles and cans.
- For years we have sent out an electronic newsletter delivered to over 4,000 subscribers - keeping it electronic every month saves reams and reams of paper!
- In the spring we are planning a beautification effort around our buildings by planting trees, shrubs and flowers.

A free paper-saving tool for Maximo users

Projetech is known for giving away free helpful tools and tips in our monthly e-newsletter.  A popular one that encourages saving paper when creating Crystal reports is listed below.

This tool of the month is a pair of Crystal Reports that reduce paper waste by printing many work orders per page instead of one per page. This was written in Crystal Reports version 7, but can easily be upgraded to version 11.  Thank you to Mike Henry from Sara Lee for this tool!

If you would like to have the tool sent to you in .rpt format, please email info@projetech.com
Please be patient as it may take a while to fill the requests.

If you are interested in signing up to our monthly newsletter full of Maximo news, tools, and tips you can do so here .

Top ten ways that you can help the environment in your office
Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind to save energy and reduce waste around your office:

  1. Copy and print on both sides of paper.
  2. Reuse items like envelopes, folders and paper clips.
  3. Set up a bulletin board for memos instead of sending a paper copy to each employee.
  4. Use e-mail instead of paper correspondence.
  5. Print on recycled paper.
  6. Use discarded paper for scrap paper.
  7. Encourage your company to print documents with soy-based inks, which are less toxic.
  8. Use a ceramic coffee mug instead of a disposable cup.
  9. Recycle printer cartridges.
  10. Shut off electrical equipment in the evening when you leave work.

Some Eco-friendly statistics to consider:

In terms of greenhouse gas emissions, these activities are likely to produce the following cumulative incremental benefits:

• Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer e-commerce is predicted to reduce greenhouse gases by 206.3 million (U.S.) tons.

• Telecommuting will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 247.7 million tons due to less driving, 28.1 million tons due to reduced office construction, and 312.4 million tons because of energy saved by businesses.

• Teleconferencing could reduce greenhouse emissions by 199.8 million tons, if 10% of airline travel could be replaced by teleconferencing over the next 10 years.

• Reduction in first-class mail, plastics saved from downloading music/video and office paper from emails and electronic documents could reduce emissions by 67.2 million tons. For example, over the next 10 years, shifting newspaper subscriptions from physical to online media alone will save 57.4 million tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions.
